Information on Philadelphia's Local 14 Insulators and Asbestos Workers Apprentice program

Application Qualifications

Apprentice applications will be accepted on the basis that applicants have met and shown documented proof of all required minimum qualifications at the time of application.

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

Age - All applicants must be at least 18 years of age (applications will be accepted from applicants that are 17 years of age if they will turn 18 prior to the apprenticeship term beginning)

Residency - Applicants must reside within the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local Union 14 jurisdictional area. This includes:

Pennsylvania - *Bucks, Chester Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties (*Bucks County includes the following townships ONLY:
Bedminster, Bensalem, Bristol, Buckingham, Chalfont, Doylestown, East Rockhill, Haycock, Hilltown, Hulmeville, Lower Southampton, Milford, New Britain, Northampton, Perkasie, Quakertown, Richland, Sellersville, Springfield, Upper Southampton, Warminster, Warrington, Warwick, West Rockhill and Wrightstown).

New Jersey - Burlington, Camden, and Gloucester counties (*Burlington County includes the following townships ONLY: Beverly, Cinnaminson, Delanco, Delran, Edgewater Park, Evesham, Hainesport, Levittown, Lumberton, Maple Shade, Medford, Medford Lakes, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Palmyra, Riverside, Riverton, Shamong, Southampton, Tabernacle, Westampton and Willingboro).

Education - A high school diploma or high school equivalency HSE is required. Applicants are required to submit reliable proof of education (high school diploma or HSE with scores and a high school transcript). All applicants must possess sufficient educational knowledge to atisfactorily complete the on-the-job learning (OJL) and related instruction (RI).

Physical - Applicants should be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the trade without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or any other individuals, with reasonable accommodation.

Citizenship - Applicants must be a legal citizen of the USA or legal immigrant authorized to work in the USA by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. Proof must be shown at the time of application.

Transportation - Applicants must have adequate transportation to attend on-the job learning and related instruction classes.

Ability - Applicants must satisfy the Joint Apprenticeship Committee that they have the ability and aptitude to master the rudiments of the trade, based upon oral interview, written documentation submitted by the applicant and evaluation ratings.

Military Service - If applicable, applicants must submit a DD-214 to verify military training and/or experience if they are a veteran and wish to receive consideration for such experience or VA benefits.
